To ensure a safe and successful at-home blood draw, all patients are required to provide a clean, private indoor space with a flat surface (such as a table or desk) for our phlebotomist to use during the appointment.
Why this is important
Blood draws require sterile supplies and careful handling to prevent contamination or infection. Performing a draw outdoors or without a clean, appropriate environment increases the risk of:
Contamination of supplies
Infection at the draw site
Damage to specimens, which may result in delays or the need for a redraw
Our phlebotomists must follow strict clinical safety standards. These requirements are in place to protect your health and ensure accurate test results.
What we need from you
Before your appointment, please ensure you have:
A clean, private indoor area (appointments cannot be completed outdoors)
A table, desk, or other flat surface for supplies
Adequate lighting
A comfortable chair to sit in during the draw
Appropriate attire for a clinical appointment
All pets secured in a separate area to ensure a safe and distraction-free environment for your appointment
What happens if a safe space is not available
If a clean, indoor space with a flat surface and appropriate conditions is not available at the time of your appointment, the phlebotomist may be unable to complete the blood draw. In these cases, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
